A Network Rail track worker has been killed after he was hit by a passing passenger train.
The accident happened near Surbiton just after 1130am yesterday.
The 30-year old man from Hampshire was struck by a South Western Railway service.
Network Rail boss Andrew Haines said “My thoughts, and those of everyone at Network Rail, are with the family and friends of the colleague involved. Our immediate priority now is to cooperate fully with the British Transport Police and Rail Accident Investigation Branch to fully understand what happened.”
